Top tips to keep your business (and you!) organised.

We all know that as a business owner or professional, we need to keep organised. However the day to day running of the business can easily get in the way and spin you right off track. Here are a few tips to help keep you organised so you can run your business smoothly and stay on top of those tasks.

1. Always have a Notepad.

Every day technology is improving and there are lots of ways you can keep notes on the go. On your phone, on your laptop, syncing between devices. Most smart phones come with in-built note taking apps. But sometimes even we find you cannot beat a notepad and pen (although notes are definitely harder to loose when you use an app!!)

2. Keep your Diary up to date.

Less of us are buying diaries and calendars now, opting for the more convenient phone calendar. Make sure your calendars are syncing between your devices, and if there is more than one of you in your business that needs to see the calendar, share it with them. Remember to record as much information when you input the event, you will thank yourself later.

3. Work to your To-Do lists

Essential in our line of work, to-do lists help keep you organised and on top of your workload. They remind you of any deadlines and make sure your customers never feel neglected. Some great free apps out there are click-up, asana and trello. Remember to remove tasks that you have completed and remember to add tasks when they come up. And then revel in the screen full of green ticks!

4. Plan your day

At the start of every day, allow yourself 5-10 minutes to plan your tasks, with how long you expect them to take and then stick to it! If you plan 10 minutes to check emails and clear your inbox, get it done in 10 minutes. We all know you can easily spend 3 or 4 hours a day 'doing emails' which more often than not is not an efficient use of your time.
